Joanne Cruise has been your workday companion on New York and New Jersey radio for more than 20 years. A God Girl first, being on the air at Star 99.1 is a prayer answered and dream come true, and she feels truly blessed to be part of a station that sends a positive message thru the encouraging music and personalities. “ A chance to make someone smile and feel better? I’m in heaven!” When she is not on the radio, Joanne loves to perform standup comedy, and is a regular at Caroline’s Comedy Club on Broadway in New York.
Something you may not know about Joanne: I’m a licensed hairdresser. I always wanted to do hair, so I went to school and quickly found out I’m just not good at it :-) “If I should ever open my own salon, it will most definitely be called Bad Haircuts!”

I find them irresistible. I have at least 40. And most of the time, I'll buy a new one, get it home and find I already have it. OK, Ladies, take a guess at what I am talking about. Shoes? No, but close. Lipstick. There's one in every purse, every room of my house, and a few that melted in the car over the summer. Tonight I picked up "Diva". How'd they know?
They say when you have a cold, like you're toothbrush, you should replace your lipstick. Excuse me? Diva cost me 22 bucks. Not happening. I'll chance another cold. At least my lips will be pretty :)

Happy Friday! As we near the end of August, and focus on the kids going back to school, I can't help but say, hey, I love summer...always have...but there is something about the fall that is special to me. It's definitely "my time". Giant sunflowers...cooler evenings...a chance to finally wear my favorite sweatshirt again...and pumpkins! I have always been fascinated with pumpkins. What a beautiful creation the pumpkin is! From a tiny flower, a giant orange seed filled balloon emerges...with a built in handle! Like a Christmas tree, we search and search the local farm, finding just the right one...carefully picking that perfect pumpkin. We dig our hands into the center and remove the seeds...ewwwwwww...carefully carving the perfect face for our autumn mascot. Like snowflakes, no two are the same! In goes the candle and on the front porch now sits this amazing creation. You're so proud...you've outdone last years for sure...and the next morning a squirrel has usually eaten through half of it. Oh well, guess it's time to get another and start over. When I get to heaven, I'm going to apply for the job of Pumpkin Carving Manager. I'll have my own office. No squirrel's allowed.

I made a quick run to the grocery store last night....just a few "essentials" on the list to get me thru the new workweek.
Bread...check!
Milk....check!
Pringles...check!
Two boxes of Kraft macaroni and chesse....middle of the night staple....check!
A few pieces of fruit in my attempt to eat healthy. These of course, like the ones I grabbed last week, will probably never get eaten...check!
ON NO....It can't be.
Is that a plastic pumpkin??? IT IS!!!! It's the beginning of August...it's 97 degrees...and wait...am I seeing things?
IT'S HALLOWEEN CANDY!!! The Halloween Candy is in the stores already????
Oh, come on! Well that is just too early!!! So I'm officially protesting...
Whoa...is that candy corn?
Protest Over.
One bag of candy corn...check! After all, gotta get my vegetable group in there too :)

Since joining the wonderful team at Star 99.1, I have become an offical commuter. Each day I get a little more accustomed to my new route and surroundings...but nothing prepared me for this morning. I took a wrong turn, in all honesty, searching for a new breakfast stop and came to a red light. There, right before my eyes, crossing the street, was the biggest wild turkey I have ever seen. Was I dreaming? Not a chance. He was as tall as me and looked me right in the eye.
His eyes said it all..."I'm crossing the street, and I'm taking my time. You wait right there till I'm done".
I have to admit. He scared me. I waited.
What's the strangest thing you've ever seen while driving? Happy Friday!

So here we are...in the midst of yet another heat wave...
You know it's hot when you walk outside and you need another shower!
I find screaming into the sky in my back yard..."Cut it out, it's too hot"! to be a great source of stress relief.
He does have a sense of humor, you know.
I saw three young boys on the drive in...fishing poles in hand, buckets too...heading for the nearby canal. I know what they were going to be doing today. Making memories! Lets all take a "gone fishing break" today.
And be careful and stay cool. You are loved!

It's Friday... (!)
The weekend is upon us...here are 5 things to think about as you gaze at the clock anticipating "quitting time"....
.....Someone you know needs a hug right now. It might be you!
.....Don't text your best friend today...call her! Careful, she might faint!
.....People who hold grudges becomes prisoners...forgive! Thats the way to freedom and happiness.
.....Be happy with who you are. God doesn't want a bunch of clones. You are PERFECT in His eyes!
.....A good nights sleep and comfortable shoes can fix anything! And, they are probably on sale this weekend!
Rest and Enjoy!

Every morning when I leave my house, there are two little bunnies that sit at my front door and quietly eat clover.
We've gotten quite fond of each other....they don't even run away when I come outside.
I always say "Good Morning Bunnies"! They look up...I'm pretty sure they smile...and then go back to munching away.
I'm not sure what my neighbors think of the crazy girl talking to the rabbits.
They are God's creatures and I love them! Am I the only one that talks to the bunnies?
