STAR 99.1 CAPITAL CAMPAIGN

EXPANDING OUR TERRITORY

After the wettest summer on record, we are keenly aware of our vulnerability to effectively serve our listeners. We have experienced firsthand the devastating effects of flooding, not once, but four times. We now have the opportunity to relocate. Our goal is to raise $500,000 to be used to renovate the building so that not only is the STAR 99.1 facility out of the flood zone, but we'll have the room needed to better serve our listeners and grow through new media, including podcasts, blogging, Internet radio, the three HD channels, and more.  Thanks to those who have already participated in the campaign, we're off to a great start, with over $235, 000 so far in pledges.

What is the STAR 99.1 EXPANDING OUR TERRITORY Capital Campaign?
Since 1941, WAWZ has been operating from the second floor of the Zarephath Christian Church. In the past 68 years, the staff has grown from one AM station with five part-timers to three FM stations plus Web, new technology, and events with 37 full and part-time staff and an army of volunteers, all from the same offices! Needless to say, it's a tight squeeze when everyone is here. Our offices are also in a flood plain which can sometimes threaten our ability to serve listeners when you need us most. The space also severely limits our ability to expand our outreach through new media opportunities.

Early this year, the station was presented with the opportunity to relocate across the street, away from the flood zone, into a building that is about 50% larger than our current facility - if we can raise the funds in a timely fashion to complete the necessary renovations. The increase in space will enable us to grow the reach of the ministry in order to meet the need. Taking us out of the flood plain will protect our ability to broadcast without disruption during weather-related emergencies. All of this needs to be committed to be completed in a very short time span.

What is the goal?
Our goal is to get commitments that will allow us to move into the new facility before the end of the year.  The first phase, which includes building new studios, will run about $500,000.00. The project falls outside of our normal operating budget. The threat is imminent… but the potential is eternal as we partner with you to reach more hearts with the message of Hope in Christ.

What are some of the features of the new home for STAR 99.1?
More, and larger, studios for all three radio stations (STAR 99.1, 99.1 HD2, 99.1 HD3), an increase in office space, and space for our growing digital media ministry. The new home for STAR 99.1 will be out of the flood plain, but will remain on the Zarephath campus in Somerset County where we've been since 1931.

How can I help?
The financial support for this campaign must come from our listeners, without disruption to our annual operating income. We're blessed by many who support this station with their gifts and prayers, but this is a campaign with a particular focus beyond salaries, electric bills, light bulbs and stationery. Each and every gift will go directly to the Vision Fund to pay for renovation expenses to build new studios and offices that will allow us to expand God's reach through traditional and digital media.

Can I re-direct my Sharathon gift toward this campaign?
Sharathon gifts are for our operations budget. This gift is for renovations. Re-directing your gift will have severe impact on our operations for the next year.

How can I make a gift?
You can click here to give, send a gift by mail to STAR 99.1 Capital Campaign, PO Box 9058, Zarephath NJ 08890, or call the STAR 99.1 Business Office at 732-469-0991. We accept checks, credit cards, electronic checks, or money orders. Gifts can be made on a one-time or monthly basis. STAR 99.1 also accepts gifts of real property as well as stocks and securities such as mutual fund shares, bonds, and bond coupons. Every gift is important!

Is my gift tax-deductible?
