Ministry of the Week

STAR 99.1 salutes Gateway Pregnancy Centers,
our Ministry of the Week!

Gateway Pregnancy Centers helps whole families

The mission of Gateway Pregnancy Centers is to bring the gospel of Jesus Christ to men and women (Matthew 28:19-20, John 3:16-18, Acts 4:12, Romans 10:9-10).

We believe the Lord has provided the vehicle of crisis pregnancy ministry as one of those ways to share man's need for a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

We feel that God has opened a wide door for ministry, "...for such a time as this." (Esther 4:14) Many today may claim to be pro-life but still may not have eternal life, and this to us is far more important. We do not seek the reformation of individuals but the transformation of hearts.

We neither do nor refer for abortion. We present the biblical view of chastity. We pray for and reach out with the gospel to abortionists and others who hold non-biblical views toward life.

As His ambassadors, we bring the truth of God's Word to bear upon the circumstances of a crisis pregnancy.

As His ambassadors, we bring the truth of Gods Word to bear upon the circumstances of a crisis pregnancy.
Gateway Pregnancy Centers - For such a time as this!

We purpose to do this through: free pregnancy tests • peer counseling • post-abortion counseling • chastity counseling • husband/boyfriend counseling • limited ultrasounds for pregnancy verification • practical assistance, including: education, emotional support, and spiritual support.

This is all intended to meet the whole-body needs of all women during childbearing years.

It is intended that the love of Christ demonstrated toward clients will result in opportunities to sensitively present the gospel of Jesus Christ, thus leading to the spiritual salvation of mothers, and the physical salvation of children not yet born.

Besides the three existing centers, we are praying and working towards a fourth center in Newark, to be opened sometime in 2010. Nurses and trained sonographers are needed on a volunteer basis at our Elizabeth location.

Our 24th Annual Banquet, to be held Friday October 16th, will feature Dr. Alveda King, niece of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

We continue to speak to local churches and youth groups on the biblical issues of life. Our Blog is regularly updated and our Web site contains hundreds of links on various biblical and life issues.

Our greatest need is for prayer and for willing, faithful volunteers to spend three (3) hours a week sharing the gospel and providing peer counseling to the women we see.

We also need faithful men to share with the many boyfriends and husbands who accompany these women. We regularly hold a 20-hour training class to prepare the volunteers. Our next class begins November 5th.
