STAR 99.1 Salutes our
Ministry Of The Week -
Mission Statement:
The Salvation Army, an international movement, is an evangelical part of the universal Christian Church. Its message is based on the Bible. Its ministry is motivated by the love of God. Its mission is to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and to meet human needs in His name without discrimination.
What we do:
In addition to our Sunday Worship Services, we offer Bible study and a Women’s ministry for adults. Our youth programs include after school music/timbrel/sacred dance lessons for middle and high school students.
Our outreach efforts include serving over 50 disadvantaged community members with a hot meal every Sunday. Every Tuesday and Thursday we have a food pantry that provides groceries to people in need. During Thanksgiving and Christmas Holiday seasons we provide gift and food baskets. Our Youth Sacred Dance Team performs at league of mercy visits to hospitals and nursing homes. In October,we will be holding a 24/7 Prayer Vigil and Evangelistic Outreach. Through these programs we bring the message of Christ’s love and salvation to the most isolated and disadvantaged members of our community.
