Mission
Urban Impact is a program that exists to
meet the physical, intellectual and emotional needs of inner city youth
by offering hope that transcends any life situation. We provide
consistent support through wholesome relationships, role models and
activities in partnership with local inner-city ministries. We know that
we can't change the world, but we can do something
ONE LIFE AT
A TIME!
Urban Impact is all about relationships. Monthly activities take place throughout the year for continued development, mentoring and spiritual nurture. We conduct residential summer sessions, each of which is seven days long. The daily program includes laughter and love, bible study, academic tutoring, life skills training, music, dance, drama and basketball training with tournament play.
Emanuel walked into camp last summer wanting nothing
to do
with Urban Impact and certainly
nothing to do with God. At the age of 14, Emanuel (a professed
anarchist) spent his days creating songs of hatred towards the Lord with
his band, rebelling against the laws of society and fueled with anger
that drove him to fight any and everyone. With his 9' Mohawk and stone
cold face, he was determined not the allow the love, nurturing and
encouragement of our staff to penetrate his heart.
Thankfully,
God had other plans!
We are grateful to Super Bowl Champions David Tyree and Lee
Rouson
for comingout to our summer camp and giving their time
to share their hearts with Emanuel and the other boys. Their
testimonies
alongwith the safety and acceptance of a loving
environment
profoundly and radically changed Emanuel's life for
God. In the time
spanof one week, his heart of stone was melted
as he grew in the
knowledge of God's love for him. We are thrilled
that Emanuel is now
a Jr. Canceller with Urban Impact and is
himself changing lives
for Jesus!

Urban Impact works closely with key churches and ministries already reaching out to the young men involved in our program. The leaders of these ministries work together with our Program Directors to identify and select the young men who will most benefit from our program. These ministries also play a key role in the ongoing development and mentoring of these youth, as they stand alongside them in the day-to-day.

Urban Impact is a ministry of Pillar of Fire, which is an international Christian organization that takes very seriously the call to follow Jesus. In the United States, we reach out with hope and healing creatively through churches, schools, radio stations, summer sports camps and large youth-oriented outreaches and concerts. We also have extensive international missions in India, Costa Rica, Nigeria, Malawi and Liberia with homes for widows, orphans, schools, churches medical clinics, and more.
